Accommodation and Food
During the Langtang, Gosaikunda and Helambu Trek, you can find accommodation in your local teahouse and village home along the trail. These teahouses are generally basic but adequate, offer twin bedded rooms with blankets and shared toilet/bathrooms. In the valleys the facilities are better; at higher altitude the lodges are more basic, but warm and inviting. Living in teahouses also offers a good opportunity to reveal local lifestyle and hospitality from the Tamang and Sherpa people.
The food is fresh, hot and good for trekking in mountains in this trek. Most teahouses serve Dal Bhat, noodles, soup, fried rice, pasta, potatoes, eggs and bread, along with hot beverages such as tea and coffee. Dal Bhat is the most popular dish as it is nutritious and provides a lot of energy for walking long hours. As the trek ascends, food options become more scarce and prices rise due to the fact that supplies are brought in to isolated villages by pack animals or porters. But it is hearty and sufficient to keep the trekkers strong all through out the journey.
