1) Best seasons
The suitable seasons for the Gokyo Ri yoga trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these seasons, the temperatures are moderate, making it ideal for trekking and practicing yoga or meditation. Spring brings vibrant rhododendron blooms while autumn offers pleasant temperatures and excellent views of the mountains. The weather is generally stable, and the skies are clear, providing clearer views of the surrounding mountains. Winter (December to February) is extremely cold due to heavy snowfall. So in case of a medical emergency, leading to a helicopter evacuation, it is best to have insurance.
4) Altitude sickness
While ascending quickly you may feel symptoms like nausea, headache, difficulty in breathing, increased heart rate, and uneasiness. And, if the symptoms persist for a longer duration then know that your body could not resist the altitude variation. So, if you feel these symptoms, please let your guide and your group know. Your guide will provide you with immediate first aid.
5) Foods and Accommodation
Teahouses/ Lodges will provide you with a choice of both Nepali and western meals that include energy giving food and liquid food like rice, cereals, lentils soup, noodles soup, hot tea, potato etc. Similarly,rooms at teahouses are available on a twin-sharing basis. Each room comes with two beds, a pillow, a blanket, and common bathroom. As you trek towards higher altitude the facilities gets more basic.
6) Permits
You will need permits to undertake Gokyo Ri yoga trek in Nepal. They are:
1) The Sagarmatha National Park permit
2) The Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card

Gokyo Ri Yoga Trekking Itinerary
Expand allDay 1: Kathmandu Arrival and Transfer to Hotel.
On your arrival to Kathmandu from Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), the representative from Nepal
Holiday Treks and Tours welcome you and then you shall be transferred to the categorized Hotel in
Kathmandu to which you are comfortable with. Later in the afternoon, you shall have 2 hours yoga
session, yogic breathing, and meditation.
Day 2: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu
Starting the day with 2 hours of yoga and meditation session for relaxation to get ready for the day. On this day we visit four different UNESCO World Heritage places in Kathmandu which are as follows:
Kathmandu Durbar Square
Pashupatinath Temple
Boudhanath Stupa
Swoyambhunath Temple
After returning from the visit, in the evening time, there will be 2 hours of a yoga session for relaxation in
the hotel.
Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2800m) to Phakding (2610m)
Our trip starts from the domestic terminal of TIA taking the early morning flight to Lukla. While we are in the air flying, we shall be entertained with lots of panoramic view of the dazzling White Mountains and
beautiful scenic villages beneath us. In no time we shall find ourselves at Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Lukla
which is one of the most beautiful and thrilling air routes in the world culminating in a land on a hillside
surrounded by high mountains. And then we start following the trail towards Phakding making through
along the beautiful Sherpa valleys. We shall relax at the teahouse in the destination and later end of the day with your first 2hours yoga and meditation session in the trekking destination. We shall stay overnight at the tea house in Phakding.
Day 4: Trek to Namche (3440m)
Our trek will begin with a quick 1-hour yoga and meditation session for the relaxed beginning of the day.
Then, on our way to Namche following Dudh Koshi River, we shall be enjoying the beautiful view of the
glistening Mt. Thamserku (6608m) on our right, also experience the serenity of pine, fir and juniper forests throughout our journey. If lucky we may even catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest peeking over the LhotseNuptse ridge when the days are open and clear. After making through several suspension bridges we have a straight upward climbing trail which embraces us to Namche Bazar. To end the day, you will have another 2 hours of yoga and meditation session. Our overnight stay will be at Namche in the tea house.
Day 5: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar
Before moving to a higher altitude, a proper rest day is provided on this day and in the early morning, we
shall have 2 hours yoga and meditation session for the better day. We will spend a day in Namche Bazar
in order to alleviate our tired and lethargic muscle. We will make a short distance to the way of the
museum which is celebrated for the exhibition of the traditional culture of Sherpa people. After that, we will hike up to the Syangboche Airport which lies closer to the Everest View Hotel where we can observe the views of the Himalayas with an astonishing sunrise and sunset over the panorama of Khumbu peaks.
Namche is a colourful village which includes interesting and exhilarating shops and vendors, fabulous
food, and stunning views of mountains. For the better start off tomorrow morning, better and sound sleep
is needed. So, in the evening time, there will be 2hours yoga and meditation session again for proper
relaxation.
Day 6: Trek to Phortse (3680m)
With 1hour yoga and meditation session in the morning, we will start the day further up on the trail. As weclimb steeply out of valley passing through the rhododendron forest, we will see juniper and large conifers according to the altitude being increased which makes the trekking very much pristine in the spring. We will observe Khumbu La and Teacher throughout the day. After a busy day of exploring Khumbu La and Teacher, we shall end the day with our regular session of 1hour yoga and meditation session. Overnight will be staying in Phortse.
Day 7: Trek to Machherma (4470m) via Dole (4200m)
After 1hour of quick yoga and meditation session, the journey begins again and we will be climbingsteadily along the side of the valley. As we climb up to more altitude, we will find the small and thorny bushes give way to scrub juniper. The trail takes us through many summer settlements, which are used when yaks are taken to these pastures to graze in the summer months. Ahead of us are excellent views of Cho Oyu, while behind us down the valley are the peaks of Kantega and Thamserku. With our regular 1-hour yoga and meditation session we shall end our day for today. An early sleep is requested as the journey begins little bit complicated with more height.
Day 8: Trek to Gokyo (4790m)
Beginning the day with regular 1hour of yoga and meditation, today we shall take us to a very scenic pathto Pangka and then to the River that flows down the west side of the Ngozumpa Glacier. We then climb a steep rocky inclined into the valley by the side of the glacier, passing the first of the holy lakes. And we soon follow the second and third one after another. The final lake is known as DudhPokhari and on its eastern shore is the settlement of Gokyo. Regular 1hour of yoga and meditation will be the end of the day and we will be staying there for today.
Day 9: Exploration around Gokyo
For the today’s 2 hours yoga and meditation session, we choose Gokyo Ri on the top. Gokyo is situated bythe side of famous glacier Ngozumpa. Besides taking rest we may take a hike to Gokyo Ri (5583m) if you don’t want to miss the best’s view of the whole Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu Himalayas, including the giants Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang. Or we can take a short walk around Gokyo valley and circle around
the glacier.
Day 10: Trek Back to Dole (4200m)
Regular 1 hour of yoga and meditation in the morning will make the day and we shall follow back to the
descending trail to Dole again. There will be rest for a few hours and Reiki yoga and meditation to end the
day in the evening.
Day 11: Trek to Namche ( 13-15 km) ( 6-8 hrs)
Early 1-hour yoga and meditation in Dole and we start descending steeply to PhortseTenga passing
through rhododendron forests then the path immediately ascends steeply to MonglaDanda (4000m) and to Kyanjoma (3500m). Finally, to Namche following small ups and down the trail.
Day 12: Trek back to Lukla ( 5-7 hrs ) (13 - 15 km)
On our final day regular 1hour of yoga and meditation starts the day, we trek down toward the Hillary
Suspension Bridge and then pass through several local villages. Our arrival in Lukla brings an evening in a
proper hotel. And make some joyful moments thanking and congratulating each other on our success of
the trek and to our teamwork.
Day 13: Fly Back to Kathmandu
We take a flight back to Kathmandu early in the morning and rest day or souvenir shopping day.
Meanwhile, in the evening time, there will be last 2 hours of yoga and meditation session for relaxation to
get sound sleep.
Day 14: Final Day At Kathmandu And Departure At Airport
On this day, you shall be transferred to the International Airport at least 3 hours before your flight for an
onward destination by a representative of Nepal Holiday Treks and Tours.
