Is it possible to learn about Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) at the Himalayan Rescue Association?
Yes, trekkers can get information on AMS and its prevention at the Himalayan Rescue Association in Manang. Braga Monastery, situated just before the village of Manang, is one of the oldest and most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the Annapurna region. Perched on the side of a rocky hill, this monastery dates back over 500 years and features stunning ancient murals, Buddhist scriptures, and a giant Buddha statue. It offers an excellent opportunity for trekkers to observe the monastic way of life and gain insight into Tibetan Buddhism. The monks here lead very spiritual lifestyles that include meditation, prayers, and daily rituals. Scenic does the Annapurna region appear during the trek
The Annapurna Circuit is amongst the most scenic treks on this earth due to its ever-changing scenery. You can get great views from the Marsyangdi River Valley, while the route to Tilicho Lake is very dramatic with high cliffs and landslide sections. Once you cross the Thorong La Pass, the landscape changes drastically into the arid, desert-like Mustang, which resembles a lot of the Tibetan plateau. It becomes once-in-a-lifetime due to the change in landscape throughout the trek.
Parken Gompa worth it as a side trip?

Expand allDay 1: Drive to Besisahar From Kathmandu.
On the first day of our trip, we will take a local bus from Kathmandu to Besisahar, which is the gateway to the Annapurna region. The journey covers approximately 175 km (109 miles) and takes around 6 to 8 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic. The route follows the Prithvi Highway, passing through scenic landscapes, rivers, and small towns.
Local buses are budget-friendly and offer an authentic travel experience, allowing us to interact with locals. However, they can be crowded and less comfortable than private jeeps. Along the way, we will have opportunities to stop for meals and refreshments.
Day 2: Trek to Syange From Besishar.
Our first day trekking from Besisahar will lead to Syange at an altitude of 1,100m. Today is quite an easy day of trekking, however; it’s pretty long in distance that keeps you walking all day. We initiate our journey from Besisahar via well-trod, winding path amid lush green hills, small villages, and terraced farmland. It also gradually goes upwards but is devoid of steep ascent or obstacles that are considered problematic. En route, we cross several settlements from where we can observe the local lifestyles and stop for refreshments at teahouses. As we draw closer to Syange, we will have our first views of beautiful waterfalls and the Marsyangdi River flowing alongside the trail.

A steep and narrow path through a very dense forest will bring us to the dramatic curved rock face, rising 1500m from the river. And right where the valley widens stands the PaungdaDanda, a massive sloping rock face that rises over 1500m above the trail. We trek for a while before reaching Lower Pissang where we spend the night.
Day 6: Trek to Manang From lower pisang via Ngwal.
Today we have two routes to Manang, one that takesus to the trail up to Upper Pisang via Ghyaru. This trail has the excellent views of the beautiful landscape and the mighty mountains mount Annapurna and Pissang (6091m). And the other one goes down to southern route of Marshyandi River by Hongde with its airstrip that involves lesser climbing comparatively to Northern route. The choice is yours, since we meet up at Munchi whichever route we take. We shall be noticing a contrast in the landscapeand vegetation from today onwards. The cold and dry climate also creates a much harsher environment.
Day 7: Rest Day at Manang/ hike to 100 lama Cafe
