The Everest high pass trekking is an adventurous and most challenging trek in the Everest region. Thisv trekking is best for adventure lovers who are looking for fun with more thrilling and adventurous Himalayans trek in Nepal. The Everest three pass trekking provides a closer look into the alien terrain, frosty altitude, and endless individual struggle at towering altitudes. In this trek, you will reach Everest base camp, passing through three highest passes in the Khumbu regionKongma La Pass (5535 m), Cho La Pass (5420 m) , and Renjo La Pass (5340 m). It will allow you to explore the hidden corners of the Everest region. Moreover, Everest high pass trek take place in the Sagarmatha National Park region which covers an area of 1148 sq.km. The vegetation of this region is tiny in sized and plants are not found at altitudes above 5750 m. This national park is home to 118 species of birds and rare mammals such as snow leopard, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, and red panda. Similarly, the trail goes through several fine valleys and picturesque villages where you will explore the Tibetan ethnic group (Sherpa).

They are the native of Nepal’s highest mountains. Sherpas construct gompas to practice their religious practices. Tengboche was the first celibate monastery in the region. The majority of sherpas are Buddhists. Their culture and lifestyle are also fascinating. Their main festival is the Lhosar festival. It falls in February or March. Furthermore, they also celebrate a festival called Mani Rimdu. It usually falls during October. The festival is significant to the Sherpa. It is celebrated massively in the Tengboche monastery. Overall, most of the accommodations of the Everest region are managed by sherpas. The Sherpa community populates the Namche village. So, when you visit Namche, you get great hospitality from them. The people are warm- hearted and welcome the climbers and tourists from bottom of the heart.

1) Best season for Everest High Pass Trek
Simply, all the seasons are the best for doing this trek, but especially, Autum is the festive season for trekkers from all around the world for trekking in Nepal. Similarly, it is considered as best time because the temperature is neither too hot nor too cold and wildflowers bloom in plenty making refreshing and pleasant environment which fits for trekking. Spring is also another best seasons for trekking as beautiful flowers bloom and new leaves start to grow. The whole environment becomes green which give you fresh air and please your eyes. However, monsoon and winter is the second best time for trekking. The difficulty of the trek increases if you trek during the monsoon season. There are heavy rainfalls making the route muddy and slippery. You must be careful with your steps. In the same way, during the winter, the Everest region is precisely enclosed with snow. This will cause difficulty in walking and passing the trails.

2) Foods and Accommodation
The lodge/ teahouses provide various kinds of foods. It consists of Chinese and continental dishes like noodles, spaghetti, spring rolls, and steaks. In additions, soups, sandwiches, momo, macaroni dishes, pizza, etc. It is better to include light foods during lunchtime as it makes you feel lighter and easy while you walk. But for high altitude, we always recommended garlic soup which is a natural means of preventing altitude sickness along with the Nepalese staple diet of Dal Bhat. The route of Everest three pass trekking has several tourists- friendly teahouses with basic accommodation facilities. You can get luxury room at the lower region by paying an additional price. As you ascend higher, the rooms are available in twin- sharing basis. The shower and rest room will be on sharing basis. In a room, you will find two beds with mattresses, a pillow and warm blankets.

3) Fitness/ Experience
Physical fitness level, health, and medical required for Everest High Pass trek. The Everest high pass is not a strenuous trekking trail. You will be regularly hiking for around 4 to 5 hours on average depending on the destination. So, this trek is not recommended for trekkers who are suffering from chronic ailments or have heart or lung diseases. It is better to avoid this trip. However, all the trekkers having an average level of fitness can easily complete this trek. If you have any kind of previous trekking experience or regular exercise it will be an added advantage but not compulsory.

4) Travel Insurance
Any trek in Nepal, including the Everest high pass Trek, demands travel insurance. The trek includes highaltitude trekking, which may be physically challenging and dangerous. When buying travel insurance for the Everest high pass trek, ensure that it covers high altitude trekking and emergency helicopter evacuation, as these can be expensive without insurance. Furthermore, obtain additional coverage of activities like hiking, mountaineering, and adventure sports.

5) Altitude sickness
Altitude sickness is common in mountains above the altitude of 3000 m. Headache, nausea, tiredness, shortness in breathe, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, rapid pulse and extreme dehydration etc are the symptoms occur when your body tries to adjust to the lower air pressure and lower oxygen levels at high altitudes. 6) Guide and Porter
The Everest High pass hike is a solo trek, but we suggest hiring a licensed trekking guide for a better experience and to obtain PERMIT/ TIMS card through authorized trekking agencies registered with the government of Nepal. However, our guides are highly experienced, helpful, qualified, friendly, English speaking and well- trained.
More importantly, they are licensed trekking guide with guide insurance and technically competent. They always carry essential safety equipment, gear, and first aid kid. A guide acts as a mediator between you and the local peoples and tells you about their culture, history, and lifestyles.

7) Everest 3 pass trek permit
As with other treks in Everest, you will need 2 different permits. They are Everest (sagarmatha) National Park Entry Permit and Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Local tax. The Sagarmatha National Park Permit can be bought in Kathmandu or en- route to manjo before Namche Bazar. And for the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu local tax, you have to pay in Lukla. All the required trekking permits will be manage and carry by our guide and he/ she will hand you all the permits after successfully completing the trek. Later on, Nepal Holiday Treks and Tours Pvt. 8) Special Equipments and things suggested for 3 Pass Trekking
Good quality trekking boots and crampon Water bottles or hydration system (at least 2 Liters capacity) Water proof cover for your back pack Sleeping bag and waterproof and warm clothing Moreover, as you know 3 pass trekking is the most difficult trekking trip, so in pass trekking day you have to wake up early (around 4.30 am) and start walking. 9) Yeti Skull
Khumjung gompa possesses a rare Yeti Skull. Sherpas believe that the finding of mysterious footprint in the snow and several incidents of yak’s killings support the legend. Sherpas accounts the Yeti’s height is approximately 6.8 feet with a conical scalp, pointed ears, hairless chest area and human like face. The creature is said to have a very bad temperament and will attack anyone who ventures close enough.

Everest Three High Pass Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to Phakding ( 30-40 min )

Our adventure trip begins with a thrilling 40 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla airport which is geographically one of the extreme airports in the world. After landing; we will be walking for 3 to four hours enjoying the scenario of the local village on the way. We will be staying overnight at an altitude of 2652 meters at Phakding. Also the Everest Three Passes Trek is a great choice for both autumn (September–December) and spring (March–May) seasons. These time frames offer the best weather conditions, clear mountain views, and safer trekking experiences.

Day 2: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar ( 11 km (7 miles) ) ( 5 - 7 hrs)

Today we will move crossing the suspension bridges over Dudh Koshi River as well as observing the splendid view of Mt. Thamserku (6608 meters) all the way through Benkar village. We will cross the famous Hillary suspension bridge and climb toward Namche Bazaar and will be observing the close view of Kwangde Peak. Mt. Everest and Lhotse also will be observable on today’s trip. We will stay overnight after walking for 5 to 6 hours today at Namche Bazaar situated at an altitude of 3440 meters.

Day 3: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar

We will not be moving further today; we will have rest and stroll around Namche Bazaar and will interact with the local people. We will be spending a day here for Acclimatization to prepare for our further trekking. Stay overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 4: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche ( 10 km (6 miles) ) ( 5 to 6 hrs)

Today we will be observing the superb view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam and close up view of Thamserku on our trekking route. We also will be observing spotted musk deer and pheasants today. The pine forests will accompany us until we reach a suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River. The major attractions for today are the views of Mt Ama Dablam, Mt Nuptse, and Mt Everest. We will reach Tengboche (3860m) which also have the largest monastery in Khumbu region after walking for 5 to 6 hours.

Day 5: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche ( 11 km (7 miles) ) ( 5 - 6 hrs)

We will walk for 5 to 6 hours from Tengboche to reach Dingboche enjoying the panoramic views of the mountain such as Kangtega, Thamserku, AmaDablam, Taboche, Kwangde, Tengboche, Lhotse and Nuptse on the way. We will finally reach at a cold and windy settlement in Dingboche to stay overnight.

Day 6: Trek from Dingboche to Chhukung ( 6 km (3.7 miles) ) ( 2 - 3 hrs)

We catch the track from Dingboche through Imja Khola valley to land raven by glacier moraines amidst towering formidable mountains. We walk leisurely as our schedule for today is only 3 – 4 hours trek. While walking through the valley, Lhotse towers on our left and Ama Dablam on our right. After Reaching Chikunga we will be discussing our trip adventures and will stay overnight here.

Day 7: Rest Day in Chhukung and hike to chhukung Ri

Our experts, as well as the trekking experts, don’t recommend you to move continuously to the higher areas so this day is separated for acclimatization. We will stroll around the Chhukung and will stay overnight here.

Day 8: Trek from Chhukung to Kongma La to Lobuche (13 km (8 miles) (7 - 8 hrs)

Our today’s journey of 6 to 7 hours will include the crossing of the highest as well as the strenous pass of our voyage which is named as Kongma La pass. We will descend from there slowly to reach Lobuche and will stay overnight here.

Day 9: Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp ( 7 km (4.5 miles) ( 5 - 6 hrs)

Today we will be reaching our one of the important destinations during our trip; i.e. Everest Base Camp which is used as the first destination by the ones who are involved in the Everest Expedition. After observing the finest scenarios of different mountain ranges we will return back to Gorak Shep for the overnight stay.

Day 10: Trek from Gorak Shep to Lobuche ( 4 km (2.5 miles) ( 3 hrs)

Today is the last day that we will be moving to any new destinations; we will be heading to Kala Patthar after several hours of descent at 5545 meters offering the heavenly views of Himalayas. We will gradually descend to reach Lobuche at 4950 meters from Kalapathar for the overnight stay after a rigorous walk of 8 to 9 hours today.

Day 11: Trek from Lobuche to Dzongla ( 6 km (3.7 miles) ( 3 - 4 hrs)

Today’s trek is shortest compared to the other days but it will not be less adventurous and full of thrill. We can observe the mountains like Ama Dablam and Kangtega Thamserku from the route of Taboche. Chola Lake is situated in the lap of Mt. Cholatse which is another finest scenario. We will reach Dzongla at 4830 meters after 3-4 hours of the walk where we will be staying overnight.

Day 12: Trek from Dzongla to ChoLa to Gokyo (12 km (7.5 miles) ( 7 to 8 hrs)

From Dzongla we will be moving along the Cho La pass at 5368 meters which are the second high pass we will be passing and descend to Thangnak at 4680 meters and the trail lead us to Ngozumpa Glacier the longest glacier in Nepal. We will be staying overnight at reaching Gokyo (4800m) after 7 to 8 hours of
walk.

Day 13: Rest day in Gokyo - Gokyo Ri

On this acclimatization day; we will be climbing Gokyo Ri for the finest views of Mount Everest after a walk of 3 to 4 hours. We will return back to Gokyo for the overnight stay.

Day 14: Trek from Gokyo to Renjo La and Marlung ( 12 km (7.5 miles) ( 7 - 8 hrs)

We will be starting our trek early in the morning and will be passing the high pass Renjo La at 5360 meters of altitude and will reach Marlung after a few descend to Marlung (4210 m) where we will stay overnight too after a journey of 7 to 8 hours.

Day 15: Trek from Marlung to Namche Bazzar ( 9 km (5.5 miles) ( 5 - 6 hrs)

On this particular day; we will be walking through the traditionally used route for trade by the Tibetans. We will then be reaching Namche Bazaar passing the hydropower on the highest altitude as well as some monasteries where we will stay overnight for today.

Day 16: Trek from Namche Bazzar to Lukla (17 km (10.5 miles) ( 6 - 8 hrs)

Namche Bazaar to Lukla-it is all downhill with suspension bridges along the Dudh Koshi River, passing through rhododendom and pine forest with an exciting view of snow-capped peaks. You are also visiting villages of Sherpa people whose villages are held alongside natures with Buddhist flags. This concludes the trek here in Lukla, staying overnight in Namche Bazaar. Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu from Lukla and transfer to your Hotel

We will take an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu for 40 minutes and will stay overnight at a hotel in Kahtmandu. Our company will also be providing you a farewell dinner on this day.
