Trip Information

Overview

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Reach to Chhukung,(4750m) Meet Your Climbing Guide

Our Island Peak Climbing itinerary starts at Chhukung on the first day. Chhukung can be reached through different paths. After journeying along the beautiful paths, you will rendezvous with our climbing guide in Chhukung. The preparation day takes place on the initial day of our Island Peak climbing schedule. Today, the guide will outline the paths, provide all the necessary information and rules to follow during the journey, and clarify the function of the gear along with how to use it. You will need to arrange your own food and accommodation for the day.
Our climbing team will prepare your climbing gear and equipment along with other items. Our group can assist you if you require rental of climbing gear (climbing shoes, gloves, jackets, etc.). You may return to your tea house for a nap after your meeting with our climbing team; the next morning, they will come to collect you to start the journey.

Day 2: Chhukung To Island Peak Base Camp(5200m), Pre-climbing Traning ( 3-4 hrs)~~/ ( 4,50 m)

The Island Peak climbing itinerary will start early today-from Chhukung, you’ll be heading to the Base Camp from Chhukung Valley. You will gain height here, going from 4750 meters to the Island Peak Base Camp, which is situated at an elevation of 5200 meters. The trekking routes from Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp are strenuous and have plenty of loose rocks. Gazing onto scenery filled with glaciers en route to the Island Peak Base Camp will collect for each breath. Crossing the Imja River towards Lhotse Glacier will allow you to absorb the views of nearby mountains in conjunction with those beautiful glaciers.
Today is the day that you will actually climb and go to the summit of Island Peak, actually leaving from the itinerary of Chhukung. All the gear would be left at Base Camp, while you will take along your day-pack containing a packed lunch, water, camera, and maybe an energy bar or chocolate. Getting an early start is essential as we have to reach the summit by lunchtime due to the winds and fog that usually set in thereafter. From Base Camp there is a steep ascent up to high camp. The steep rocky tracks take you along a narrow corridor to high camp. The paths would be narrowing as you proceed further. Tonight, go to sleep early because we will get up around midnight to begin our summit preparations.”

Day 3: Base Camp to Hight Camp (5600m) To Summit (6189m), Return to Base Camp(5200m) and Chhukung (4750m) ~( 1,439 m)

It is indeed today, on reaching Island Peak, the highest point of the Imja Peak Climbing itinerary which starts from Chhukung, a great day in your life. You leave behind all your things at the base camp and take a simple daypack, which contains a packed lunch, water, a camera, and some energy bars or chocolate. Very early ascent will mark the way because we must summit before the wind picks up and the haze rolls in later in the afternoon. It is an extremely steep climb from Base Camp to High Camp. Through a narrow entrance on the steep rocky inclines, you get to the high camp. As you climb, the uneven trails are increasingly crowded.

Once you reach High Camp, it is generally better to rest for a short while before heading up to glaciers to get to the summit of Island Peak. After approximately three hours walking from High Camp, you reach a place called Crampon Point, where you will put on Crampons. A slender icy path leads to IMJA Glacier while holding on to the main rope, around 5700 meters up. The guide secures ropes at the Glacier; climbing up from IMJA Glacier is not particularly formidable however. It is, however, at the top that the trek takes a turn: you will need to climb a wall before reaching the summit. As you climb toward the top, the expert guides will be with you to ensure that you are secured to the rope and harness for your own safety.

With the help of ropes and guides, you will finally climb the steep slopes to reach the summit of Island Peak, where stunning views await you. At the summit, you will discover the breathtaking sight of the neighboring mountains and ice fields. You will then go back to where you were earlier and descend to the Base Camp. After arriving at the Island Peak Base Camp, you will start to hike back to the beautiful Chhukung Valley. Compared to going up, the downhill walk is easier and quicker. Arrival today in Chhukung Valley will mean the end of your Island Peak Climbing expedition from Chhukung.
